So For the last week I've watched 3 summer blockbusters so far but didn't write any rant whatsoever cause I'm just lazy that way. lol
First up, the most awaited movie of the year: TRANSORMERS! hahaha. The most awesome movie comparable only to 300 this year. haha But that's my opinion. I mean the plot was hockey and the only thing that resembled the cartoons were their name and basic color. lol but as a movie in itself, it was awesome. Course, that could just be the kid in me singing "transformers! robots in disguise!". lol That is one of the most memorable catchphrases of my youth. Heck I even watched the old cartoon movie just because of the live movie. And oh yeah, megan fox is... well, foxy. hahahaha If you don't watch this movie you miss half your life. <--lol I love that phrase. hahaha
Next up, Die Hard 4.0: live free or Die Hard. Hahaha it's quite funny actually. And if you're looking for an action movie, this is it. Course if you're looking for something much deeper lol then find something else. But it's very effective at being what it is, a popcorn flick.
(Spoilers ahead)
And of course, another biggie: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I actually liked it as a movie. But as an adaptation I liked 3 and 4 better. There isn't much magic (actually in every movie they seem to be firing lasers and everything seems more mechanical than magical lol). Are they scrimping on the effects? Although I have to say the few short moments where they do have magic, the effects are awesome, specially the final battle between Voldie and Dumbie. lol
Dan is stiff, although I think it kinda suits him in this one. Emma is annoying as ever with her overactive eyebrows. Though as the movie goes along you see her not using as much eyebrows as before. Rupert is underused in this one; shame as he seems to be better.
Stand out is of course given to Mr. Fiennes as voldemort, evil as ever even with only a few scenes. Bellatrix is awesome, she mad and pure evil. lol amazing you'll be attracted by her evilness lol. Sirius is played to perfection by Gary Oldman as always. And even Umbridge is good in the sense you want to whack her about. lol though not kill her like one would like to do when reading the book. The rest of the cast did well enough. There are a lot of great actors here, but it's a shame they don't give them all a fair amount of time to shine. Course doing that'd result in a 6 hour film haha, though I wouldn't mind that either. lol
Some gripes about the film. First Malfoy, where the bloody hell is he? They're gonna have a hard time with book 6 like this, cause he is reduced to the whiney annoying bully, which he actually isn't (well in the books atleast).
And the final battle, what's up with Dumbledore? I have hated Gambon since forever, although I don't think this time it was his fault. I'd have to take a stab at the director. Dumbie is as crazy as he was in 4 wherein he shook harry to death (everytime I think about that scene i lol). And it seems his eyebags swallowed his halfmoon glasses. hahaha. he doesn't wear any half moons in the whole film which is quite annoying. And the fight in his office is reduced to him escaping without showing his 1337 abilities. which is fine I guess since I really thought the ending was going to be awesome...NOT! lol The final battle though awesome in its own way leaves much to be desired. Not in the special effects but in the way they depicted the fight. I hated the fact that he was struggling in fighting Voldemort when he supposed to be extremely powerful. Sucks that in the end, they barely made it and escaped only because Voldie didn't want to fight the whole ministry. When in the book, Dumbledore kicked his ass. That's possibly the biggest gripe i have about this film.
But still you should watch just cause it's harry potter! hahaha.
Next up Ratatuille.
later...
